Karin Galligan

Karin Galligan
SKM Dance Preschool and Level I Ballet Instructor

Captivated at the age of eight by the magical Gelsey Kirkland in the Nutcracker Ballet, Karin started formal ballet training at the Morgantown School of Ballet; it has been a part of her life since. She continues training with Master Ballet Teacher Kim Holland and has attended MusicWorks Convention Workshops. One never stops learning in dance.

In addition to ballet, Karin trained as a vocalist and worked in broadcasting at WCYJ-FM and WANB-AM/FM in Waynesburg throughout her high school and college years.

Karin graduated from Waynesburg University with a bachelor’s degree in Visual Communication, where she worked in all areas of media including television, radio, and print. She tutored students in audio/video production, writing, and photography. After college, she served as Waynesburg University Assistant Registrar and Assistant to the Vice President for Academic Affairs Kathleen Davis, who encouraged Karin’s love of teaching. Karin has completed post-graduate work in elementary education. She is currently Technical and Media Writer for SKC Inc. She lives near Hickory, PA with husband Chuck Galligan and their daughter, Elizabeth, who is a dancer at SKM Dance.

Karin brings her love of ballet and teaching to the SKM Dance Preschool and Level I programs. Her passion is making classical ballet fun for children to learn. Ballet is more than the basis for all dance, it is the foundation for a successful life.
